Aus der Tiefe des Raumes

Hans Günter (Arndt Schwering-Sohnrey), a shy young man in his mid-twenties, pursues his unusual hobby in the lovable stuffiness of a small Rhenish town in the sixties: he plays Tipp Kick and is a highly skilled master of the table football game with the little metallic men.
At an important Tipp Kick tournament, at which he qualifies for the German championships, Hans Günter meets Marion (Mira Bartuschek), a photographer of his own age. It comes as a surprise to both of them when the gentle romance sees them ending up in Marion’s bedroom on the very first night. Even more surprisingly, this turn of events leads to the most unusual consequences: via a chain of coincidences, Hans Günter’s favorite Tipp Kick figure—the number 10—simultaneously lands in Marion’s bathtub, in which a concoction of various photography chemicals has formed a sort of primeval soup.
During this very night, inexplicable chemical reactions bring “number 10” to life. This fully grown, living being doesn’t only wreak havoc in the little world of his owner; but also goes on to conquer much bigger worlds. “Number 10” progressively matures to a stately young man named Günter (Eckhard Preuß), with ever perfectly parted blond hair and shoe size 47, who has mastered the art of possession football like no one else. One of the most famous German football stars of the seventies is born….

(...) a football film (...) which stands out remarkably surreal and down to earth against the pack of footy films of the last years.
