Jugend ohne Gott

"Jugend ohne Gott" ("Godless youths")
From the novel "Jugend ohne Gott" by Ödön von Horváth

In a not-to-distant future, in which integration serves to protect the elite and isolate the weak, in which the cities are hellholes and the countryside holds the fairytale promise of a better life, the young female pupil N is found beaten to death in the woods during the annual final-year assessment camp. On his quest for the truth, the reputedly morally upright teacher breaks with his own values, as he becomes increasingly entangled in his own lies. Suddenly someone confesses to a murder that he couldn't have committed, and the fragile cohesion of a youthful elite society threatens to destroy itself.
