Single mother and GP Nina (Lisa Maria Potthoff) meets the charismatic Mark (Manuel Rubey) on a train.
The flirt quickly develops into something more serious. Nina introduces her new beau to her neighbours Melanie (Ulrike Krumbiegel) and Andreas (Justus von Dohnányi), and, acting on impulse, Mark comes to live with Nina in the countryside. But Mark has a confession to make: he served seven years in jail for beating his ex-girlfriend to death in the heat of the moment. Nina decides to give the relationship a chance anyway.
But then Melanie fails to return from a short trip away. Her jealous husband Andreas suspects an affair between Mark and Melanie and hires a private detective. Nina becomes suspicious too, and ends her relationship with Mark. Everything changes as Melanie's body is discovered in the nearby woods.
